Mission: Prologue: Starting A New Life
Location: U.S.S Connecticut/Warp-Shuttle/U.S.S. Wasp

-:Start:-

Oti woke up slowly, his vision slightly blurred with a throbbing pain in his head. He drank too much last night in celebration of his new post and new that he would regret it. He chuckled slightly and felt the sheets move. Next to him in his bunk was the Terran Geoffrey Mathers of the Security Department and Valora, a Deltan Yeoman. How Oti was able to convince both of them to sleep with him was still unknown to young Andorian. He laughed loudly causing them to stir in their sleep before he managed to slither his way out of bed. Standing naked, he began to search his meager quarters on the Pioneer class vessel that had been his home for the past three years. Thankful for his antennae he didn't lose his balance though he was having a bad case of vertigo. He chuckled when he saw his reflection and arranged his long hair towards the right side. He ran his hands along the shaved sides and smiled. Valora was right the warrior cut suited him well. He checked his chronometer on his wrist and saw that he had half an hour to get ready and report to the shuttlebay. He looked back at his bunk and saw that his bed companions were still deep in sleep and decided to not wake them. He quietly went into the head and showered and donned a fresh uniform before he double checked his traveling case. Happy and blessed that he packed before the trio started to drink, Oti, left his quarters and made his way to the shuttlebay.

Arriving with five minutes to spare, Oti was shocked to see that Captain Miranda Gregorovich was standing next to the class-F shuttlecraft that would be taking him to Starbase 17. It was one of the newer models of that class, larger than its predecessor in order to accommodate the new micro-warp core that Starfleet began to start using two years ago. These shuttles started being used to transport crew and cargo between neighboring systems without having to rely on civilian transports or redirecting Federation ships especially with trouble brewing again on the Klingon borders. He stopped ruminating on his thoughts and stood at attention before his smiling Captain.

"At ease Lieutenant, I wish you the best of luck and congratulations, you deserve this opportunity and promotion." she said with sincerity.

"Thank you ma'am, I appreciate you and learning all that I have with you and Lieutenant Commander Solrac." replied Oti with a smile.

"He regrets that he could not send you off, he is manning the bridge at the moment though he did ask if you enjoyed the case of Vulcan Port he gifted you."

Oti blushed a deep shade of indigo at the comment his Captain made. Solrac although a Vulcan was a V'tosh Ka'Tur though it was hard to tell that he embraced his emotions. He never thought that the communications chief would tell their Captain that he gave him a gift of his family's finest vintage.

"Don't worry Lieutenant, I told him to send you off with another case, it's on the shuttle waiting for you, make sure you offer a bottle of it to your new Captain and that awesome wine you gave me. Though I hear Commander Venik isn't like Solrac at all. Mind yourself and try not to get other Deltans to break their vows of celibacy."

At this Oti fought hard to keep a straight face he merely saluted at his Captain realizing for the first time that she was now his former Captain.

"Thank you Captain for everything, may your travels be filled with joy and wonder, may the Spirits of your ancestors guide you as well as your Gods;" he said as he saluted.

The Terran nodded and motioned for him to board the shuttle. She then waited on the deck and watched as the shuttle lifted up from the ground by way of anti-grav generators and then watched as it turned on its axis and slowly slipped out of the shuttlebay. She smiled as the doors slid close behind the departed craft. A year ago she would have had to vacate the shuttlebay before the ship could leave it.

Oti sat in the co-pilots chair. The interior of the shuttle had a set bunk beds against the interior starboard wall and a bench on the port side. A Terran Lieutenant Junior Grade was manning the helm and in the back was a familiar face to Oti though he never personally worked with the woman. She was a Terran nurse who also was transferring to the U.S.S. Wasp with them was a Tellarite who was part of the shuttle's crew though he was sleeping on the lower bunk and had the privacy screen covering him. Leaving the U.S.S. Connecticut was fairly by the book as was the activation of the warp drive. Although the shuttle could only travel at warp one, it was phenomenal to be on such a small warp capable vessel that didn't require an additional warp-sled. The Terran didn't talk much and kept to his console. Nurse Lawson was busy reading a PADD, probably going over medical protocols for a Constitution-class vessel. Personally Oti was ready to be a department head, he was excited to be on the bridge of a starship more often instead of trapped in a corner on the engineering deck or serving as the bridge comms officer during the night shift. Trepidation swept over him as the shuttle rocked slightly. His antennae twitched nervously thought he kept his cool. He figured it must be due to the shuttles size and since the pilot didn't seem to bothered by it, Oti felt as if he shouldn't as well.

-:Two Days later:-

Oti found himself on the bench next to Nurse Lawson. Her medical variant of the uniform dress was clean. Her tights appeared smooth and her boots well polished. Her dark hair was all arranged into a neat bun. She was tuning her medical tricorder as the crew of the shuttle were speaking to comms officer of Starbase 17. From the main viewport Oti could see that to the left of the station was the drydock where the U.S.S. Wasp was being held. The shuttle began to make it's way towards the aft portion of the ship and entered its' shuttlebay.

With a hiss the pnuematic airlock opened and Oti took his first steps onto his new home.

"Looks like we're home Nurse Lawson," said the Andorian finally breaking the silence that plagued him for the past two days.

The nurse barely nodded before she walked towards the deck officer.

"If I don't find good gossip soon, I'm gonna launch myself out an airlock," sighed Oti before he followed the woman.

The pair approached the deck officer who smiled and checked them off on their PADD.

"Lieutenant Junior Grade Anidem, you are to report to Captain Venik ASAP, Nurse Lawson you are to head to sickbay and meet with Doctor Yiggtissi, do either of you need a guide?"

Oti shook his head.

"Don't worry about your belongings they will be brought to your respective quarters. Lieutenant you will be on deck 4, room 15 and on deck 2 you will find communications control..."

Oti nodded and noticed that the man had no rank braid on his wrist so he excused himself without a word and made his way out of the shuttlebay and into the corridor and smiled that there was a turbolift right in front of the shuttlebay. He entered the round lift-car and as the doors hissed closed behind him he smiled.

"Bridge," he said aloud to no one in particular.

The lift began to ascend and it amazed the Andorian. On the Connecticut he still had to use the panels and hold onto the railings in order to get the lift to work. After a short and uneventful ride, Oti's lift stopped at the bridge. and before the doors hissed open he adjusted his red uniform shirt and smoothed out his hair...
